Pasar Pagi (lit: Morning Market) is a congested market area in the north of Jakarta's main business area.

Pasar Pagi Flyover is a 950 metre long elevated viaduct, built to reduce traffic congestion by providing a new east-west connection through the market. Contract value US$ 11 million, financed by IBRD.

Client: DPU - Dinas Pekerjaan Umum (Department of Public Works)

Detailed Design by Biec International, Inc., Pamintori Cipta Ltd., PT Seecons and T.P. O'Sullivan & Partners.

Constructed by Bilfinger + Berger, PT Yala Perkasa International and PT Coniplant Indonesia.

Construction Supervision by Pamintori Cipta and T.P. O'Sullivan & Partners.

Foundations are 1.5 m. diameter bored piles, founded in the dense sand. The pile lengths varied between 20 m. and 45 m. due to non-uniform soil profile. Precast driven piles were used in the approach ramps

Superstructure is continuous over 13 spans, with a total length of 650 m. Precast segmental construction, with narrow insitu concrete joints between segments (preferred over glued match-cast joints to simplify construction).

Erection of superstructure using under-slung self launching girder, cycle time approx. 3 weeks per span.

Approach structures are 200 m. (west) and 100 m. (east) in length.

West ramp was constructed using vertical wick drains to accelerate the consolidation of the soft clay.
